I had thought for many years that the update in 2013 would be the 'final' one, but more issues gradually came to my attention. All features from ZDoom 2.9pre and GZDoom 2.4.0 and maint2. Location: Development Hell Posted: Wed 7:17 pm Subject: Castle Totenkopf SDL update IP : Logged Hi guys I've decided to update Castle Totenkopf SDL Edition and improve a few things in the mod.The first and only release was on Decemas version 2.9.0. Alongside various bug fixes, support for new standards like ZScript, DEHEXTRA and UMAPINFO was added. Bilbrough would later create RZDoom, their own take on expanding the classic ZDoom experience to a new audience.ĭrfrag sought out to provide a enhanced experience by backporting various pieces of code altogether from various forks, resulting in a stable release that deviates significantly from the ZDoom 2.8.1 experience. It focuses on enhancing the latest ZDoom codebase with backported features from GZDoom and modern standards. It is based off the last developmental revision of ZDoom after its last official release, version 2.9pre and GZDoom 2.4.0. This build, called ZDoom64 was made by Adam Bilbrough (Gibbon) but was rather unstable. ZZDoom is a fork of the ZDoom source port by drfrag. It has added many additional features, including slopes, uncapped fps and z-clipping. ZZDoom was released as a response to provide a stable build of the latest developmental revision of ZDoom called 2.9pre. Based off ATB Doom and NTDoom, has since added practically full support for Boom, Chex Quest, Heretic, Hexen and Strife and several games have been developed specifically for it. I didn't get far in the original but the SDL version is like a remake and it's pretty sick.ZZDoom is a fork of the ZDoom source port by drfrag. I also recommend a possibly underrated Spear-based game, The False Spear. Make Doom your own again In addition to Doom, GZDoom supports Heretic, Hexen, Strife, Chex Quest, and fan-created games like Harmony and Hacx. I adore Origins however, even if it is way too guro Oh hey! You made Chemical Warfare? Wasn't that the 40 level game with a turquoise Doom rocket launcher? If so that really brought back memories. GZDoom is a source port for the modern era, supporting current hardware and operating systems and sporting a vast array of user options. I didn't play a lot of Legacy but I must've been in a bad mood at the time or something because I wasn't really vibing with it. Easily one of the most well made TCs ever made. OMG how could I forget repping Orb of Dilaaria? I had to make savegames to look at all 60 levels since a playthrough would only be 30 levels max, and while I know that wasn't the intended play style I really wanted to make sure I soaked in as much of the game as I could, since I wouldn't be going back to it for a long time. Orb of Dilaaria is a really charming and fun TC if you can get through the frustrating melee-only first map - it's basically like if Heretic had been made in the Wolf3D engine instead of the Doom engine. The other really high-profile series is Operation Eisenfaust: Origins and Operation Eisenfaust: Legacy. Project: X Insurrection - An even MORE polished Absence like sci-fi title, 66 levels!, it looks like a proper 90s game The Golden Parrot - Wolf4SDL, Pirate RPGish. Project: X (Anniversary Edition) - By RichterBelmont, a more polished Absence like game, proper 90s, better looking than most, huge sprites Weather effects, textured floors and ceilings. Though there is Wolf4SDL, and while its more like ZDoom, theres also ECWolf. Tristania 3D - EOD Engine, basically from Wolfenstein: End of Destiny. Green Arrow (Team Raycast) - This one is just plain sick with its lighting and shading engine. ZZDoom is a fork of the ZDoom source port by drfrag. Operation Eisenfaust: Legacy (Team Raycast)īatman: No Man’s Land (Team Raycast) - Wolf4SDL Lair Of The Mantis - Sadly this one is unreleased, but its easily the most polished TC. Halls Of Stonehenge (SDL, Special Edition) Also DOS.
